Curriculum Vision Statement

Alton Park Junior School aims to create a nurturing and inclusive learning space, where pupils are supported academically, physically, socially and emotionally. Through engaging lessons, experiences and opportunities,  we aim to broaden horizons and develop a life-long love of learning. Developing tenacity, motivation and engagement is at the centre of our curriculum so that pupils are given the tools to make a positive contribution to society.

How will our curriculum be delivered?

Know More, Remember More:
  • Knowledge, skills and vocabulary in each subject build upon each other and assessment support strategies support adaptation.
  • Opportunities for retrieving and applying key knowledge and skills is evidenced in all subjects.
  • Pupils have opportunities to discuss their learning and knowledge with each other.
Learning for all:
  • Modelling and practice builds pupils’ confidence and independence.
  • Learning, where appropriate, is delivered in small steps taking account of pupils’ needs.
  • Learning is adapted for pupils so that they are supported and challenged appropriately.
Build Character:
  • SMSC, British Values and reflect-ed are taught explicitly but also embedded across the curriculum at every opportunity.
  • ALTON values are explicitly taught and recognised within and across lessons.
  • The curriculum offers pupils a range of opportunities and experiences through educational visits and visitors.
