Governors

The Role of the Governors

The role of the Governor is a vital one in the school and we are fortunate to have such enthusiastic and energetic Governors working on our behalf. This is particularly so since the school became a local bank account school as they are responsible for the effective and efficient running of the school.

Together the Governors are responsible for ensuring that the school is being operated in a correct way, that money is properly accounted for and for ensuring that the school is keeping up with all the changes being imposed upon it. Their actions over the course of the year are reported at an Annual Parents Meeting held in the Summer Term. Parents can ask questions and if there are enough parents present may propose motions which must then be considered by the Governing Body.

About me:
As a company director and accounts manager I understand the importance of working in a team, which is why before becoming a school governor I decided to become more qualified in this area. After a year I achieved the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and also The Open University Certificate in Supporting Learning in Primary Schools (E111). Since becoming a school governor in 2011, I have carried out online courses and regularly attend and participate in training, e.g. an accredited Safer Recruitment course, SEND update training, Benchmarking, DATA, Safeguarding and I have been awarded the Certificate of Governance. This all supports me regarding the governor committees I am on and helps me to carry out my governor duties more effectively.

I am proud to say I have been part of Holland Park Primary School since 2004 when my son first started in Reception. My son is now in year 11 at Clacton County High School, doing really well and my daughter is very happy in year 3. As a working parent I feel very lucky that I can arrange my working hours to enable me to do what I love, my voluntary work at school, School Governor and member of the school P.T.A.
