On Monday, 14th May 2018, 4JD took part in ‘Resorting to the Coast’ – the brand new project between Tendring district’s coastal heritage communities, it’s schools, local volunteers and the public to celebrate the glorious heritage of it’s seaside resorts.
The Mercury Theatre sent along representatives to work with the children – the pupils particularly enjoyed getting teacher, Mrs Deemer, to speak on camera to explain what the children had enjoyed most, namely meeting Jackie (the artist) who talked to children about the history of Clacton. Pupils had the opportunity to do a ‘big’ painting in the dining room, printing and brainstorming sessions to talk about what they love about Clacton: the pier came out on top so they designed postcards using paper prints of beach-related figures and included features of the airshow.
Some children were also interviewed and filmed doing the artwork and showing the postcard designs. This short film will be on uploaded to the ‘Resorting to the Coast’ website in approximately 5 weeks time. We hope to receive notification of exactly when in due course together with a link that we can upload it to the Alton Park website so watch this space!
We will also be uploading some photo footage taken on the day as soon as we have received them from the Mercury.
